ZiuZ develops and delivers pouch inspection systems for pharmacies, all over the world. The pouches (Baxter pouches) are produced via a pouch packager. These dispensing devices are delivered to the pharmacies by partners of ZiuZ, who also sell the ZiuZ products.

Sometimes the patient rolls, containing medication, are returned to the pharmacy, unused. Today these pouches are destroyed, causing loss of valuable resources and a burden to the environment.

There is a growing trend that we should do something with the returned medication. An option would be to empty the pouches and sort the still OK medication by type of medicine so it can be used for a second life.

THE ASSIGNMENT

Do research into methods to effectively open the pouches without damaging the content, empty the pouch and sort the content by type of pill. Design a solution for this and build a Proof Of Principle / Proof Of Concept. This solution is scalable for higher production numbers.

EXPECTED END RESULT

A demonstrator that automatically opens pouches, empties them and sorts pills into 10 different directions / types.

REMUNERATION

ZiuZ has a standard internship / graduation allowance of €350 per month and a maximum of €221 travel allowance if applicable.
