Northern Netherlands shows its strength in high-tech innovation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday, November 4, the SKILL building in Drachten was the scene of a national event of\u00a0Holland High Tech (HHT)<\/a>. The central themes were autonomous systems and autonomous factories, both specialties of the Northern Netherlands. The strong turnout showed that this topic is very much alive in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opening: the strength of the Northern Netherlands<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The afternoon began with a joint kickoff by\u00a0Andr\u00e9 Harmens<\/a> (NOM<\/a>) and\u00a0Joost Krebbekx<\/a> (ICD). They brought renewed attention to northern high-tech specialties. They did this with the image of the \u201cNorthern Peacock Feathers\u201d: the current flagships, combined with the plans to further grow the innovation ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterwards, it gave\u00a0Leo Warmerdam<\/a>\u00a0of HHT provided an overview of national developments. He discussed the Top Sector Agenda, the Industry Letter and the National Technology Strategy. He also shared news about upcoming regulations relevant to companies and knowledge institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspiration from Groningen and Drachten<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Then told\u00a0Jeroen Broekhuijsen<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0TNO<\/a> Groningen on the sense and nonsense of so-called\u00a0lights-out factories<\/em>: factories running completely autonomously without personnel. From his role as leader of the national roadmap, he provided keen insights and concrete examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thereafter,\u00a0Erik Koehorst<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0Philips<\/a> Drachten spoke. He showed how Philips has made ever greater leaps in productivity in recent decades. Furthermore, he gave an insight into the future plans of the northern flagship. Philips Drachten is growing towards the largest robotized factory in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
