Our EDU robot has crossed the provincial border. At the invitation of high school RSG Wolfsbos<\/a>, where much attention is paid to technology education, EDU robot arrived in Hoogeveen on Tuesday, April 24. Two students from the school and two students from elementary school Villa Kakelbont<\/a> received EDU-Robot from the hands of Bas de Nooijer of Ventura Systems<\/a> and project leader EDU robotics for our business cluster.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The students loved it, they asked interesting questions, went for a walk with the robot, did a high five and even a dance and stretching exercises were no problem for the robot. \u201dThat is exactly the way we introduce young people to technology at the earliest possible age,\u201d explains Bas de Nooijer. This should also be possible in Drenthe, thought Petra Hummel, coordinator of Technical Education at RSG Wolfsbos. \"Our school is very active with technology education and this robot fits in perfectly with that.\" According to Petra Hummel, the idea is that students not only develop skills in technology and programming, but that they also experience how to cooperate and patiently put something together.<\/p>\n

Learning line technique<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students from grade 7 and 8 of elementary school are invited annually by RSG Wolfsbos to take engineering classes. Petra Hummel: ,,Once students from elementary school move on to RSG Wolfsbos, the technique lessons can be continued. That is our continuous learning line from primary to secondary education.<\/p>\n

EDU Robotics<\/strong><\/p>\n

All more than 400 Frisian elementary school received an EDU robot last year. \u201dTo bring the choice for technology to the attention of elementary school pupils, who often only come into contact with technology when they have already made a career choice in secondary school,\u2019 said Bas de Nooijer. In Friesland, the successful project concluded in February with a \u2019return day\u201d for all robots in Leeuwarden. \u201dAt the theater De Harmonie, 900 pupils from 125 elementary school gathered together with their robots to show each other the fun things you can do with robots. The cooperating high-tech companies hope that schools and companies in Drenthe, in cooperation with the province of Drenthe, will give this project a sequel. Bas de Nooijer: ,,So that soon all elementary school pupils in the north of the Netherlands will have the opportunity to get acquainted with technology!\"<\/p>\n
