Global Sales & Business Development Manager
The Sales & Business Development manager for Photonis Scientific Detectors is responsible for the worldwide sales of image intensifier tubes and related detectors for scientific (non-defense) applications.
In this typical niche market, Photonis directly serves a large number of end-users (like Universities, Research centers and Institutes) as well as various OEM parties, mainly active as a manufacturer or system integrator in the field of high speed scientific cameras.
This commercial role combines account management with the continuous search for new customers as well as applications and projects that we can translate into more standardized products. A global market that requires regular visits of OEM partners and trade shows in both Europe and the USA: the two main regions where we operate directly. In other regions (mainly Asia), we partner with a small number of distributors, whom we sometimes support at trade shows in their region.
Our customer profile is often technical with a high level of specialized knowhow. They have superior knowledge in their field of expertise but expect that we are able to translate their needs and give them adequate advice on our specific product characteristics. As our intermediary, a background in physics, electro-optics or electronics is highly desirable. At the same time, this position is all about commerce: selling, consulting, relationship management as well as exploring and validating opportunities.
Based in our office in Roden, the Netherlands, you work directly with your colleagues of the Scientific Detectors business unit: in particular the Product Manager and the Customer Support office staff. You will report to both the BU Manager and the Sales Director for Photonis Scientific.
You like to work on the edge of technology and commerce and you like challenges. You combine your hands-on mentality with your theoretical knowledge and you are eager to find solutions. You are a good communicator and also a systematic worker who operates with a high level of responsibility and independency. You have enthusiasm and discipline. You have the ability to continuously switch attention.
- Technical BSc degree in Physics or Electronics
- At least 5 years of commercial experience
- Fluent in written and spoken English and preferably a 2nd language
- Willing to travel and work internationally (approx. 30%)
