Approximately 250 employees are working at the production plant in Roden; in addition to production, departments such as R&D, Finance, Engineering, SCM, Purchasing, Sales and Marketing are also located in this facility. Group Category Purchaser (fulltime)

The Category Purchaser develops, manages and executes the purchasing strategy. This includes management of the supplier portfolio, development of strategic alliances for the assigned material and services perimeter and negotiate and conclude framework. Purchasing category management activity is to reduce the cost of purchasing goods and services in conformity with the Quality, R&D and/or Engineering specifications, reduce risk in the supply chain, increase overall value from the supply base and gain access to more innovation from suppliers.

Main task
The Category Purchaser is responsible for managing a supplier base delivering certain product groups/ categories of indirect materials and services that are used in our sites in France and in the Netherlands. The Category Purchaser is responsible for the overall performance of this supplier base to deliver year-on-year cost reductions, minimise industrial and service risks, quality of delivery as well as capacity to accompany Photonis’ growth. Therefore the Category Purchaser develops short and long term supplier strategies by quoting, negotiation and contracting. The Category Purchaser defines a preferred supplier list for each category. These strategies are implemented in support of the product- and industrial strategies of the Group.

The Group Purchasing Department deals with the optimal availability of materials and services for direct and indirect production support. The department is managed by the Group Purchasing Director. The department consists of Category Purchasers and Project Purchasers who are located in Brive and Roden.
This vacancy is for a Category Purchaser in Roden.


  • English and Dutch: fluently in word and writing
  • Knowledge of MS Office and ERP
  • Experience with Key Supplier Management and experience in building relationships with suppliers
  • The ability to communicate with internal and external parties on a senior level
  • Critical thinker with strategic perspective and result-oriented mindset
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Technological knowledge
  • NEVI 1 is a plus
