PHOTONIS is a leading multinational high-technology group, manufacturing electro-optic components used in the detection of ions, electrons and photons. We innovate and engineer quality components for integration into a variety of applications such as night vision optics, digital cameras, mass spectrometry, physics research, space exploration and many others.
Building a timer for latency measurements
In PHOTONIS Netherlands, based in Roden, we develop digital cameras for use under low light conditions.
An important parameter of the camera is the latency. That is the time between an image changing in front of the camera and the change appearing on a display.
A simple method to measure the latency is to make a camera + timer loopback. Here is an example using a mobile pone stopwatch as timing source:
Ideally this should use a fast running timer instead of a mobile phone.
- The subject of the proposed internship is to design and build a latency timer.
