Within the R&D department at BD Kiestra in Drachten, the Software Engineering department is responsible to develop and verify software designs. Within the Software Engineering department, four teams of functional expertise exist:
- Common Design
- Application Design
- IT and Front End Design
- SW Verification
The Application Software Engineer is part of the application team. His/her key purpose is to Designs, develops, modifies, adapts and implements short- and long-term solutions to information technology needs through new and existing applications.
He also reviews software requirements and business processes; codes, tests, debugs and implements software solutions.
The Application Software Engineer works in closed collaboration with other disciplines.

Duties and responsibilities
- Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements applications for medical instruments
- Determines systems software design requirements
- Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency
- Generates systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures
- Resolves complex problems that do not have routine solutions.
- Mentors (jr) colleagues
Education and experience
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, mechatronics or a related technical field
Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in R&D environment
Candidate for or certification in InfoSec Security are a plus, e.g., CISSP, CSSL
Very experienced professional with extensive knowledge of Software Engineering, preferably in a regulated environment (ISO, FDA...)
Knowledge and skills
Able to works independently with minimal guidance.
Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve products/services or processes
Extensive experience with Delphi Xe10
Working knowledge of MS-SQL, Interbase, C#
Working knowledge of TFS, VSTS, GiT
Experience with static code analysis tools
