As a Sr. Manager Hardware Engineering you will be accountable for all hardware engineering activities and deliverables in New Product Development and Sustaining Engineering. Reporting to the Director R&D, you will lead a team of approximately thirty professionals (BSc and MSc level) in engineering teams consisting of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, embedded control and prototype realization. Within R&D you will have peers responsible for systems engineering and software engineering, together forming an R&D group of approximately 100 FTE.
BD is a matrix organization, organizing R&D work in cross functional projects, under leadership of Core Team leaders (project managers). Your key goal is to ensure professional execution of the hardware work in these projects, developing, guiding and coaching the team members to ensure project success and the engineer’s individual career development.
Core activities include
Lead team of hardware engineering to execute hardware engineering in projects
Assure cross functional cooperation in engineering teams
Assure best possible allocation of resources across the various projects, aligning personnel capabilities and project needs
Recruit, train, develop and manage performance of engineering team
Deploy best in class engineering principles such as DfSS, DFA, DFM
Grow functional excellence, through cross-site benchmarking, mentoring, training and functional reviews
Develop and execute technical roadmap within the hardware discipline, identifying and developing re-usable components and solutions, cost roadmaps and pre-development opportunities
Develop and ensure proper use of tools and systems, such as Inventor, Solid Works, PDM, Altium, Altium Vault and SAP Integrated CAD
You’ll love our position if…
MSc in a relevant Engineering discipline.
At least 5 years’ experience as individual contributor in hardware engineering
At least 5 years functional management experience
Demonstrated skills in identifying technical risks and mitigation
Demonstrated expertise in DfSS, DFA, DFM, EMC, ESD etc. etc.
Demonstrated expertise in design, prototyping and verification of hardware, including obtaining TUV approvals and certificates
Demonstrated ability to implement change.
Influencing and persuasion skills based on technical expertise and sound interpersonal skills.
Excellent command of English language
It’s a definitive PLUS if you are / have:
Experienced with Project management, preferably in new product development projects
Knowledge of medical device regulations (or willingness to learn)
High personal effectiveness, managing multiple high-paced work streams simultaneously.
