Also this time our companies are participating in Girls day 2021. Throughout the Netherlands, science, technology, IT companies and technical or IT departments of companies open their doors to girls aged 10 to 15 on the same day. They can participate in interesting activities. In addition, they meet female employees and learn more about STEM activities. In short, Girlsday 2021 lets girls experience the undiscovered world of science, technology and IT up close!

The current COVID-19 crisis makes clear more than ever how important science, technology & IT are for society. For example, lab technologists are working on the development of vaccines, technicians are devising ergonomic solutions for home workplaces and IT professionals are championing secure video connections. This is a great opportunity to enthuse girls for science, technology and IT!

female talents

Girlsday draws attention to the theme of gender diversity in science, technology and IT. It is important that more girls and women become acquainted with these sectors, so that they have the opportunity to use their talents.

Girls Day 2021 Online

Normally Girlsday is a physical event. The day will then be opened with a festive kick-off at a special location. Due to the COVID-19 measures, we want to be sure that we can also reach girls in 2021. That is why Girlsday is organized online.

Program structure (provisional)
  • Central Online Kick-Off for all participating schools: all participating girls are invited and can participate virtually. The theme for the kick-off will be announced later.
  • Companies across the country offer online guest lectures at participating schools (via a video link in the classroom). During the guest lesson of approximately 45 minutes, girls are introduced to a company and the people who work there with a science, technology or IT profession.
