News / Innovatiecluster Drachten grows with new member Ventura Systems

Kor Visscher, chairman of Innovatiecluster Drachten, is proud that Ventura Systems joins as a new partner. ’’With their innovative way of working and their excellent technology, they are a great addition to our business cluster.''

Ventura currently makes 15,000 bus doors a year with just under 100 employees. ’’Our doors go all over the world,’’ says Bas de Nooijer, commercial director and co-owner of Ventura Systems. For the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, the company has won a prestigious order from carmaker Toyota. "We are supplying the doors for the new buses that will run during the Olympics. These are hydrogen-powered buses and true marvels of innovative technology. A great opportunity for us to show what we have to offer.''

Share expertise

Joining the high-tech business cluster is a wonderful step, according to De Nooijer. ’’The companies of Innovatiecluster Drachten supply products worldwide with the latest and most innovative technology.’’ De Nooijer is thrilled to belong to the cluster and is eager to share expertise. ,,As a member of the cluster, we want to actively work to attract technicians to the North and retain engineering students for our region. This is how we contribute to the economic growth of the Northern Netherlands.'' Ventura only expects more work in the future, due to greater need for public transportation in growing global cities.
