The first milestone
The kickoff of ICD's 10th anniversary took place last month what an unprecedented success it was! During the sold out National Congress of Autonomous Systems in De Lawei in Drachten we started the lustrum year festively. Were you there and do you want to reminisce? Or did you miss the event and are curious what it was about? Then watch the aftermovie again here:
The second milestone: looking back together at 10 years of ICD and a new logo
Last Thursday, May 8 - about a month later - all ICD companies and (former) board members met in the ‘clubhouse of the ICD’: the SKILL building on the Philips grounds in Drachten. Here we reflected on 10 years of ICD and what this has meant for the member companies. The importance of cooperation was emphasized: together you get further and there is no need to keep reinventing the wheel. It was also emphasized how the ICD contributes to the visibility of the companies, especially for potential employees and trainees. The ICD has proven its worth and looks forward confidently to the next 10 years!

What the new logo stands for
Reason enough for a fresh new look: a new logo! How did this come about? Lay the logo on a map of the three northern provinces, and you can see that the dots represent the locations where ICD companies and knowledge institutions are located. The largest dot - recognizable as the symbol for the center of gravity - marks Drachten: the center of gravity of the ICD.
With the new logo, we are also emphasizing the acronym ICD and adding an English-language tagline. This way we also appeal to international students and potential employees. After all, what does ICD stand for? Innovation through Collaboration - or: Innovation through collaboration!

Handing over book Unleashing the Power of European Innovation by author Fred Bakker
The celebration of 10 years of ICD was further graced by Fred Bakker. He was invited to this festive day as author of the book Unleashing the Power of European Innovation. He handed a copy to Joost Krebbekx and former chairman of the ICD, Kor Visscher. This book, released last year, describes the ICD as an example of how things should be done. “Drachten has turned into a thriving innovation center thanks to a unique collaborative approach, which is reflected in the broader themes of Baker's book,” said Innovationorigins.com.

Video release WhisperPower Solarboat
During this festive day, we also launched the brand new video of the WhisperPower Solarboat. Sander Storm of the Whisper Power Solar Team was in attendance and he had brought the Solar Boat along for the occasion. You can read more about the video release in our other news item: News release WhisperPower Solarboat video. And below you can watch the video directly:
