First in-house Mikrocentrum training at ICD: engineers from the Drachten region immerse themselves in surface technology

News / First in-house Mikrocentrum training at ICD: engineers from the Drachten region immerse themselves in surface technology

On October 7 and 8, the first in-house training by Microcentre place. This training was specially organized for companies within the Innovatiecluster Drachten (ICD). The company Hytrans initially requested this course on surface engineering, Hytrans being one of the participating ICD companies. Soon, there appeared to be great interest from other companies in the cluster to have engineers participate as well.

For that reason, Mikrocentrum - normally based in Veldhoven - decided not to organize the training this time in the southern Netherlands, but rather centrally in the north, in the middle of the high-tech region of Drachten.

First “INSKILL” experience tastes like more

During the two-day training, eight engineers from different ICD companies were “brushed up” on the latest techniques and applications around surface technology. With that, this was not only a learning session. It was also the first practical experience within the new INSKILL concept: high-quality technical training directly on site, in cooperation with regional partners.

Investing together in knowledge and innovation

The success of this first course shows that within the Northern Netherlands there is a growing need for specialized high-tech education and training. In cooperation with the Mikrocentrum and affiliated ICD companies, we are now looking at whether more such INSKILL courses can be brought to the north in 2026.

“This first training is a great example of how we are investing together in knowledge, innovation and cooperation in our high-tech region,” said the ICD organizers. “It certainly tastes like more!”
