News / ICD companies meet tech talent during Engineering the Future

Strong joint ICD presentation at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen

On Nov. 19, the ICD or Innovatiecluster Drachten featured ten high-tech companies at the event Engineering the Future, organized by the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen. The ICD companies formed a nice unit, with the familiar ICD back wall as a powerful calling card.

A valuable day for meeting and orientation

The fair offered students from various technical programs the opportunity to interact with leading employers in the region. The ICD companies spoke with many students about internships, graduate projects and possible career opportunities. Although some courses were less visible, the event was perceived as valuable and constructive.

Niek Musters (Comecer Netherlands) looks back positively:
“The organization was professional and clear. We talked to many students about graduate studies. In addition, we had good contact with the other companies and exchanged new ideas. In short: a valuable day for Comecer.”

Strong interest in sustainable systems

Also Resato Hydrogen noticed that students are very interested in sustainable technology.
Marc Boendermaker narrates: “Again this year we were able to speak to a lot of technical talent. Interest in our hydrogen refueling stations was high. It's great to see that starting engineers think it's important to work on sustainable initiatives. We are looking forward to next year!”

Philips presents 17 internship and graduate programs

Philips Drachten was present with representatives from the Student Coordination Team. Their goal was clear: to meet, inspire and match talent with challenging assignments.

Everhard Hoexum looks back with satisfaction:
“We were able to offer the students no less than 17 different assignments. The conversations were about interests, opportunities and what we do in Drachten. It's still nice to see that Philips as a big name still has a lot of appeal. This week the first responses already came in. We expect more to follow.”

Together strong for technical talent

By acting together as ICD companies, the northern high-tech sector gained much visibility. The companies showed that the northern Netherlands offers plenty of opportunities for students who want to work in innovation, high-tech manufacturing and sustainable technology.

The career fair Engineering the Future once again proved to be an inspiring meeting place. The ICD is therefore enthusiastically looking forward to the next edition.
