During a festive gathering at the location where Ventura Systems invents and assembles its door systems for bus, streetcar and subway, cluster president Kor Visscher signed the cooperation agreement. Traditionally on the back of the management of the joining company.

The local administrators of the municipalities involved showed their enthusiasm and praise. Not only about the employment opportunities, which Ventura has provided thanks to the worldwide export of its door systems for 22 years. Especially the entrepreneurial spirit and now joining the business cluster are a sign of good entrepreneurship, according to Alderman Maarten Offinga (Sûdwest Fryslân). ’’I am proud that we have such an innovative company in our municipality!’’ Alderman Roel Haverkort from the birthplace of the business cluster municipality of Smallingerland agrees. ''The criticism a few months ago that the innovative business cluster was only there for the glory of administrators is far from the truth. With the accession of Ventura Systems, Innovatiecluster Drachten shows once again how you get further through cooperation.''

Collaboration is more

De Nooijer of Ventura Systems was delighted a few months ago with the business cluster's invitation to talk. ,,Innovatiecluster Drachten really contributes something to our company. The cooperation enables us to do more, for example. We are already experiencing that in the knowledge circles in which we participate.’’ According to de Nooijer, entrepreneurship means taking steps. ,,That also applies to government and that is why I am happy with the cooperation with both municipalities and the province. This way we complement each other, instead of getting in each other's way.’’

Open innovation

Chairman Kor Visscher of Innovatiecluster Drachten emphasized in his welcome speech how important export companies like Ventura Systems are to the economy of the Northern Netherlands. ,,If a Friesian company improves on a Groningen company, that is especially good for the owner. If the company does export, then the entire Northern Netherlands benefits.’’ Visser believes that companies must learn to work much more in value-added chains. According to him, open innovation is the key word. ,,Independently innovating is really a thing of the past. Trust in each other and openness, those are the pillars for survival in the future.’’
