your challenge

Are you the enthusiastic, talented intern we're looking for?

At the Philips Drachten Production Location, we produce shaving heads for Philips shavers worldwide. To improve our competitiveness, there is always a drive to enhance our productivity.

The assignment consists of the development of a mechanical gripper to pick trays/boxes and the development of the associated storage location.

We would like to test the developed solutions in our production environment, demonstrating the use of an AMR to fully automate handling within one specific area of the low-end cutting elements production line. .

As there is a test environment available at the PHD production location, the challenge is to develop the gripper and storage location and test its integration with the available AMR (test and run it autonomously).

In the end, we need to examine the solution and its usability, and define the technical and organizational roadblocks and risks encountered during this pilot period.

You will be participating in the Engineering Department (PIE) at Philips Drachten.

Your responsibilities

As an intern your main responsibilities are:

  • Develop a robust mechanical gripper for handling trays/boxes.
  • Develop the optimal mechanical setup for tray/box storage, maximizing space efficiency while ensuring robustness.
  • Implement and test it in a pilot environment
  • Report the technical and organizational roadblocks and risks encountered:
