Friday, January 17, the second Safari of the year took place (the article about the first one will follow soon). This time for students of the State University Groningen, and what an inspiring day it was! With 49 participants, punctually on time, we started with coffee and tea in the SKILL building at the Philips terrain.
The day began with an engaging lecture by Redmer van Tijum on cold forming, with a nice connection: Redmer once graduated from prof. Bart Kooi, who was now present in the room.
Then the group was split. Accompanied by four tour guides, the visitors discovered the impressive Philips factory. Among other things, they were shown the cold forming square and the halls where plastic parts are produced by injection molding.
The lunch offered was followed by inspiring presentations from professionals:
- Harm Smit (Philips): on injection molding of shaver parts
- Gabby Aitink-Kroes (SRON): about metal shapes
- Teun Ruardij (Photonis): on Indium Tin Oxide as a transparent conductor of electricity
- Sytze the Count (NTS): a concluding lecture full of insights
At half past two the group left for Groningen, with a head full of new ideas and impressions.
And the best news? Via Bart Kooi we were told that the Safari was very well received by the students and teachers. The enthusiasm was so great that bookings were immediately made for next year!
We are already looking forward to another edition full of inspiration and connection.
