On Thursday 7 July, a gathering took place to bid farewell to Jaap van de Loosdrecht, lecturer at NHL Stenden. Jaap is the founder of the Vision community in the Northern Netherlands. His passion for images was expressed not only in his work, but also in his private life. His hobby and work thus merged seamlessly. Companies such as BD, Ziuz and many others have reaped the benefits of this, and thanks in part to Jaap's work, have been able to lay the foundation for their current success. During this festive occasion, Jaap gave a lecture on the history of the emergence of Deep Learning, spiced up with predictions for the future and honest opinions.
Jaap is very much looking forward to the coming period in which he will be doing some old-fashioned 'hardcore' programming instead of managing and writing proposals. The required equipment is already roaming in his home office. It looks like we will be seeing more of Jaap at a number of ICD companies. The ceremony was concluded with drinks in dress code: Hoodies. Who else could have thought of that! On behalf of the ICD companies, we would like to thank Jaap for his contributions and wish him lots of fun in his future activities.
