Well-trained young professionals are currently high on the agenda at the High Tech companies and we can't have enough of that in the region. Young talent is more than welcome in the workplace and once you have them in you should especially cherish them. They are our technology ambassadors for the future!
Norma Group, with a branch in Drachten, is a company that likes to invest in its employees. The originally down-to-earth company with its roots in Twente is actually very modest, but what they are especially proud of is their professionals.
During the vakkanjer competitions last March in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, 3 of Norma's vakkanjers won a podium place. Jeroen Stoeten (CNC turning) won Gold and Carmen Nales (CNC milling) and her little brother Richard Nales (machine bench worker fine mechanical) won Bronze.
What is special about this nomination is that Carmen competed among purely male colleagues. Convinced that women in her field can mill better because of their quality for precision, she managed to secure her podium place. Whereas Richard, as a junior, may go directly to the MTC WorldSkills next year in Brazil, Carmen may first compete in the team challenge for a nomination spot. The final results will follow at the end of the year.
On behalf of Innovatiecluster Drachten we wish these professionals a lot of success!
