Theun Prins, director and owner of high tech company YP Your Partner from Drachten, took a full audience into the world in which reality and virtual reality merge. He did this by means of countless talking videos, in which, for example, a whale jumps out of the water in a sports hall and an architect in an empty shed converted into Star Trek ‘holodeck’ furnishes a shoe store with the help of lifelike holograms.
Live Demonstration
,‘’The words we are going to be hearing most tonight are ‘wow’ and ’ooh,’'' Prince predicted at the beginning of lecture. That was nothing too much to say. Certainly not when he demonstrated the Microsoft Hololens live on stage on the spot. On the screen, the audience saw themselves through the lens Prins had on his head. Between them and Prins, a V8 engine hung in the air with which Prins demonstrated what tomorrow's tech education looks like.
Valuation
,’’The recipe seems ordinary by now, but of course it is not,’’ journalist Maarten Pennewaard responds enthusiastically. Together with his colleague Irene Overduin of the Leeuwarder Courant, he is the initiator of the lecture series. Following the opening of the ICD Shared Facility Center, in October 2016, the technology virus definitely jumped on the journalists. The result? Wonderful newspaper interviews and fully booked lecture series. Facilitated behind the scenes by the newspaper publisher and prepared in terms of content by the companies of Innovatiecluster Drachten. According to Pennewaard, the editors look back on the Future Makers session with satisfaction each time. ''All the work of Innovatiecluster Drachten we really appreciate!''
